There\u2019s hardly any other field in business where you\u2019ll learn so much about culture and people<\/strong>. Don\u2019t repeat the mistake of early anthropologists, who thought they could write about foreign cultures, while enjoying a glass of wine sitting at home<\/strong> in their armchairs (hence, they were labelled \u201carmchair anthropologists\u201d). In 1922, the ethnographer Bronislaw Malinowski marked the start of a new era of social science, when he demanded researchers record \u201cthe spirit of the natives\u201d by doing the unthinkable \u2013 actually spending time<\/strong> with them, and participating<\/strong> in their lives.<\/p>\n
