#howto conference will take place in every situation!

The second year of the inspirational #howto business conference will take place in October 2020. You can look forward to famous Slovak and international names from the business world who will share their experience and tips on how to cope with the current economic crisis. Due to current situation, it is unclear whether the gates of Stará tržnica (Old market hall) will open. In case of unfavourable development, the conference will take place online.

Ingo Bleier

Member of the Management Board of Erste Group Bank AG responsible for corporate banking and capital markets

Ingo is the Chief Corporates and Markets Officer and a Member of the Management Board of Erste Group Bank AG since 1 July 2019 with responsibility for the bank’s corporate and wholesale banking activities, capital markets business, asset management and international operations. He joined Erste Group in December 2007 and has held various management functions in corporate finance, investment and corporate banking at group level. Ingo Bleier started his career at Creditanstalt in 1994 and has then worked for BA-CA, HVB and later UCI Group in Austria and abroad prior to joining Erste.

Bohuslav Lipovský
Managing Partner Executive Interim Management CEE

Bohuslav is the managing partner of the CEE office of the EIM Executive Interim Management. He supports companies and their managers in critical situations, and leads them through complex changes arising from a crisis, post-merger integration, operational excellence, or in the pursuit of profitable growth. He is a graduate of the University of Economics in Bratislava with a ACCA and CMA international qualifications. Prior to joining EIM he worked as the financial director of MAN’s Truck & Bus division in Slovakia and as Interim Crisis CEO of several companies in Europe. He is also a member of the investment committee of Slovak Investment Holding, which oversees investments amounting to more than EUR 1 billion.

Peter Krutil
CEO Slovenská sporiteľňa

Banker, athlete, enthusiast for innovation and new technologies. After two decades of loyal service with Slovenská sporiteľňa, he took over its reins as CEO in 2018. Together with his colleagues at Slovakia’s largest bank, he is committed to Slovakia’s development as a modern country. He believes that this is the correct approach for a firm that is a responsible leader.

Ivan Mikloš
President of think tank MESA10 and former minister of finance

He held various ministerial posts in several Slovak governments and was one of the leaders who drove Slovakia’s economic transformation. To March this year, he advised the Ukrainian prime minister on economics and chaired the Strategic Advisory Group for Support of Ukrainian Reforms. He is the president of MESA10, an economic think tank, and his current priority is the project Learning Makes Sense (To dá rozum). The project’s aim is to promote comprehensive reform of education from pre-school to university and lifelong learning.

James Shotter
Financial Times reporter

He reports on Central Europe from Warsaw for the Financial Times. He has worked for the newspaper since 2010 and before moving to Poland, he was their German banking correspondent in Frankfurt and later covered Switzerland and Austria. The Financial Times was founded in London in 1888. It is now one of the world’s best-known newspapers for its coverage of the world economy. It is published in five different editions (UK, Europe, America, Asia and the Middle East). The Financial Times is considered essential reading for anyone concerned about the state of the economy.

Katarína Kakalíková

Director of Government Business Development Mastercard for Central Europe.

From her position, she supports governments in digitizing the public sector and various areas of the economy. At the same time, she is responsible for finding and developing new business opportunities in the public sector in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Prior to joining Mastercard in June 2012, she worked for MEDEF (French Business Confederation), the European Parliament or IBM Slovakia. She studied at Paul Valérie University, Matej Bel University and at the Universities of Richmond, USA, American City University in Bratislava

Stephan Linhart
Senior Director Sales Austria & Slovakia for the Lufthansa Group

Since 2017, he has been the sales director of the Lufthansa Group. He also combined his professional career with one company. He joined Austrian Airlines in 1996, during his student years, and worked as a passenger handling agent. He gradually moved to a commercial resort, where he focused on the region of Central and Eastern Europe. He also tried out a position in the management of Pricing & Revenue for Western Europe, since 2009 he has been working again and exclusively in the sales sector.

Marián Bíž
Leading partner and leader of the tax consultant department at EY in Slovakia.

 

He has been involved in tax consulting for almost 20 years, during which has assisted multinational and domestic clients in various sectors of the economy including real estate, construction, manufacturing, FMCG and automotive. He graduated from the University of Economics in Bratislava, where he specialised in taxes and tax consulting. He is a member of the International Fiscal Association and he has been a chartered tax consultant since 2006. 

Karen Kutzner
Member of board responsible for finances Volkswagen Slovakia

She has been a member of the management board of Volkswagen Slovakia for two years with responsibility for the business’s finances. She began her career with Volkswagen Sachsen in 1991. She rose through the ranks in accounting and controlling at Wolfsburg, where Volkswagen has its headquarters. She has also spent time in Slovakia in the past. She was Head of Finance Volkswagen Slovakia from 2007 to 2010. She studied economics in Leipzig.

Martin a Peter Velits
Cyclists and Owners of Isador Apparel Brand

The Velits brothers were professional cyclists for many years. Peter was the more successful, winning the under-23 world championships and still the only Slovak to win a place on the podium in a Grand Tour event – overall third place in the 2010 Vuelte. The brothers have founded several family businesses together, such as chalets at the Kohútka resort in the Javorníky Mountains. They are best known for their cycling clothing line Isadore Apparel. This collection takes inspiration from their many years in the professional peloton. By combining their experience with a clean design, they have created the perfect clothing for an active cycling lifestyle.

Robert Mistrík
Slovak Scientist, Chemist and Entrepreneur

Probably currently Slovakia’s best-known chemist. He graduated from the Chemical Engineering Faculty of the Slovak University of Technology and completed doctoral studies at the University of Vienna in Austria. He was a visiting scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in the USA and after returning to Slovakia in 1998 he founded the company HighChem, which supplies technology to a host of universities, research institutes and businesses around the world. After more than 20 years, he sold the firm to the American technology giant Thermo and went on to found two new companies. He has co-authored a paper published in Nature Biotechnology, a journal with one of the highest impact factors in the world.

Anastasia Kuzmina
Slovak Biathlete and Olympic Medallist

Slovak biathlete and Slovakia’s most successful Olympic medallist. She has three gold and three silver medals from three Winter Olympics. Her gold medal at last year’s championships in Östersund in Sweden completed her set of World Championship medals. A few days later she announced her retirement from her extremely successful sports career. Her other awards include the titles Slovak Woman of the Year (2010), Athlete of the Year (2010, 2014, 2018) and a Crystal Wing Award in the category Sport (2014). She has been the face of numerous projects organised by the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee and she supports many charity campaigns. She studied at the Academy of Law at Tyumen in Russia.
