8 STEPS TO HIRE AN EIM INTERIM MANAGER

The business and market environment is changing rapidly, almost on a daily basis. But for the next months, a few things could be considered “certain”, like the lack of skilled top managers to lead the companies through transitions, or the prolongation of the time-to-hire period required to hire a permanent manager, often beyond 6 months.

An engagement of an interim manager, who is immediately available, and overqualified would be often the solution companies will focus on. 

How does the process of hiring an interim manager look like in reality? What is the role of EIM in the whole process?

 

 

GAIN AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE INITIAL SITUATION

SELECTION OF THE IDEAL INTERIM MANAGER

We carry out a systematic search in the strictest confidence for the ideal manager within the EIM interim manager’s network – our EIM Community.

Within a few hours/days we choose 2-3 overqualified managers who match perfectly your needs and the discussed business context, including objectives to be achieved.

Each interim manager is selected, approached and interviewed only by an EIM Partner, to ensure the highest quality and a perfect match with the discussed objectives. References and Achievement checks are also performed only by the respective EIM Partner.

PERSONAL PRESENTATION OF THE IDEAL INTERIM MANAGER

Each manager together with a detailed assessment of his competencies and achieved results is personally presented for the selection process by the EIM Partner.

The interviews are performed on-line/ on-site depending on the situation and geography. An EIM Partner is always present on all interviews and discussions to fine-tune his/ her understanding of the business context and your expectations.

In general, an EIM interim manager is overqualified for the task he is asked to carry out. This enables him to take on his role and rapidly and “hit the ground running”.

FINALIZATION OF CONCEPT AND START OF THE INTERIM MANAGER

As a rule, the interim manager will be able to start work a few days after the decision has been made.

At the beginning of the project, the client, the interim manager and EIM Partner finalize the project plan, milestones and clear objectives.

PROJECT REALIZATION

We implement the agreed plan and realize the transition.

REGULAR STEERING MEETINGS TO SAFEGUARD THE IMPLEMENTATION

During the project the EIM Partner is directly involved in the interim manager’s work and inputs his experience and specific expertise to ensure the project’s successful outcome, including possible intervention, escalation or troubleshooting.

Alongside the project’s progress, regular review meetings will discuss whether particular obstacles or barriers may also need to be removed to achieve the desired project outcome or whether general conditions in the market or competition have changed which may require an adjustment to the project’s course.

If necessary, active support can be called up in the form of expert opinions from within the EIM network.

EMBEDDING THE CHANGE, LEAVING A LEGACY, END OF PROJECT

We make the new modus operandi, systems and processes permanent in the organization.

If required, the EIM Partner develops, in collaboration with you and the manager, a handover plan for the new permanent management team. The hand over is always smooth, as the interim knew from the beginning that his mission is a temporary one, and there are no feelings hurt, no redundancy payments, no termination periods.
